About Laser Skin Resurfacing
The aim of laser skin resurfacing treatment is to repair and replace damaged skin with new, fresh skin. The techniques and treatments for laser skin resurfacing have made enormous advances, allowing nearly everyone to achieve close to flawless complexions. Laser resurfacing can address a wide range of skin concerns, whether that is pigmentation, scarring and acne scars sun damage, fine lines, skin tightening or to provide total laser skin rejuvenation to the skin.
At Skin Smart Clinic, we use the Harmony Pixel™ Erbium Laser, it is an FDA-approved laser which allows different levels of intensity for light, moderate or deep laser resurfacing. It is still ablative, meaning it creates a “controlled wound” to this skin, in turn triggering the body’s natural healing processes, accelerating collagen production renewal and cell renewal. By targeting the top layer of the skin, the Harmony Pixel resurfacing laser can effectively reduce pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles and pore size. The treatment with the Harmony Pixel can also achieve skin tightening.
How does it work?
The Er:Yag Pixel™ laser uses a matrix of microscopic laser beams each the size of a human hair to penetrate into the skin leaving much of the surrounding skin undisturbed. Because nearby cells are not damaged, they are able to move into the microscopic injured area and promote rapid healing. Pixel™ is the next generation of fractional resurfacing that helps to improve skin texture, tone and firmness, softens wrinkles, and reduces pore size and acne scarring without the downtime and discomfit associated with other resurfacing: it combines the proven effectiveness of an ablative approach with the client comfort level and convenience of a non-ablative approach. Pixel™ skin resurfacing is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones. The laser pulses create tiny ablative zones, removing the epidermis and upper dermis. The treatment then triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin tissue. The procedure treats small zones of the skin, leaving surrounding tissue untouched and intact. These large unaffected areas act as a reservoir for more effective and rapid tissue healing and collagen production. The bottom line: new, healthier, smoother tissue in place of skin imperfections.
