Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, used in the treatment of hair loss.
The procedure involves taking a small sample of the patient’s blood and processing it to concentrate the platelets. The concentrated platelets are then injected into the scalp in the areas where hair loss is occurring.
The growth factors in the platelets can stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow to the hair follicles and promoting healing. Some studies have suggested that PRP therapy is effective in promoting hair growth and slowing hair loss.
Treatment Cost is €300.
What happens during the treatment?
A small sample of the patient’s blood is drawn, typically from the arm. The blood sample is processed to concentrate the platelets. This is typically done using a centrifuge, which separates the blood components into different layers.
The platelet-rich layer is then prepared for injection into the scalp. The scalp is numbed with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the procedure. The PRP is then injected into the scalp in the areas of hair loss. The injected area is then massaged to ensure that the PRP is distributed evenly and to stimulate blood flow. There is usually no downtime after PRP therapy for hair loss, and patients can return to normal activities immediately.
